Positively Curious!
Hi, I'm Raunaq. (It's pronounced as 'Raw-nuck').
I'm a Dean's List undergraduate student at Drexel University, majoring in Software Engineering. I'm in a 5-year program on track to graduate in June 2025, with three 6-month industry co-op experiences under my belt.
From building API authentication services at Vivid Seats to automating data pipelines at Exelon and engineering investment analytics at Resolution Life US, my co-op journey has taken me across industries and up the technical ladder. At Vivid Seats, I made a major impact on their ticketing infrastructure by contributing to core API services and architecting an authentication system that drove efficiency at scale. I then pivoted into the data world at Exelon, where I automated reporting workflows in Python and built a Machine Learning model to forecast trends, turning raw data into actionable insight. Most recently, as a Data Engineer at Resolution Life, I leveraged Python and AWS to engineer a robust program that aggregates data from 7+ sources, executes complex investment calculations, and equips actuaries with the necessary data to model investment performance and manage portfolio risk.
Each role has sharpened a different edge, and I am just getting started.
With my degree in software, I want to combine my technical knowledge with research on developing LGBT communities to change the representation of the community in the tech industry. I'm focused on my goal, competitive to succeed in the industry, and ready to learn and innovate.

A bit about my relationship with software
My older sister introduced me to computing and software engineering when I was in 7th grade. Soon after, I wrote my first JAVA program. Since then, as a software engineer herself, my sister has guided me throughout my teenage years to help me learn different programming languages and software tools. That's when I started my journey with Software Engineering!
I've always been a curious person. I love problem-solving, and writing code to create a solution always teaches me something new. Challenges excite me, pressure yields the best out of me, and the constant innovation in the industry fascinates me. I want to use the same innovation to benefit the LGBTQ+ community, specifically in developing countries.
Born and brought up in India, I've witnessed and experienced hate crimes against the queer community in every field, including STEM. But I know that under-representation and discrimination can change with accessible and equitable opportunities. I plan to do just that through the knowledge and experiences I gain here in America.
Outside of the world of software, I love to bake, swim, hike, and try new foods! Below is a picture from when I visited Zion National Park. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in nature!
